We are recruiting fellows who develop innovative policy and regulatory solutions that can make trustworthy AI a reality.

Today, Mozilla is excited to open applications for our 2022 Senior Fellowships in Tech Policy.

The fellowship is an opportunity for experts who are advancing a policy ecosystem that supports and promotes trustworthy AI. Applicants might be exploring policy or regulatory approaches for advancing systemic AI transparency; working to reform the digital advertising industry; countering election disinformation; and more.

These Tech Policy Fellows will help “fuel the movement for trustworthy AI” through independent projects that are interdisciplinary, intersectional, and provide innovative policy and regulatory solutions.

This is a fully remote fellowship, but applicants should also have expertise in – and a focus on – one of the following geographies: Africa, Brazil, the European Union, and the United States.

Says Koliwe Majama, Senior Program Officer at Mozilla: “Mozilla recognises the importance of policy interventions in building a more trustworthy AI ecosystem. We are keen to work with fellows that can identify and give recommendations on key policy issues with an intersectional lens cutting across human rights and also social, economic, and racial justice.”

Says Hanan Elmasu, Director of Fellowships and Awards: “Senior Fellows are individuals who hold a significant body of work around a particular issue area and who — via this fellowship opportunity — partner with Mozilla to help shape and strategically advance trustworthy AI.”

These fellows will join an already formidable group of Senior Fellows working on trustworthy AI, who began their fellowship in March 2022. This new cohort will increase opportunities for experience sharing and collaboration in the AI and data policy fields.

Fellows will also have an opportunity to interact and partner with Mozilla staff, programs, and community partners on existing projects.
