Festival fans and participants can vote for the annual internet health convening at vote.webbyawards.com


(THE INTERNET | MONDAY, APRIL 11, 2022)MozFest has been nominated for “Best Festival or Conference” in the Webby Awards’ Virtual & Remote category, paving the way for the 12-year-old festival to potentially win one of the internet’s greatest honors.

MozFest is Mozilla’s annual gathering for activists in diverse global movements fighting for a more humane digital world. The week-long festival — which just concluded this past March — features hands-on sessions, fiery panel discussions, groundbreaking art exhibitions, and more.

Hailed as the “internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the internet.

MozFest is usually held in-person in cities like London or Amsterdam, but has pivoted to a virtual event amid the pandemic. Despite this challenge, MozFest 2022 still convened and connected thousands of internet health activists from around the globe. It hosted more than 400 interactive sessions, on everything from protecting online privacy to building more Trustworthy AI. It featured stunning performances by the acclaimed musician Toshi Reagon. And it featured the world-premier of the Afrofuturist short film “Afro Algorithms.”

MozFest is also eligible to win a Webby People’s Voice Award, which is voted for by fans across the globe. From now until April 21, MozFest fans and participants can cast their votes at vote.webbyawards.com.

Webby winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
