MozFest House Zambia proudly announces Angela Oduor Lungati, veteran open-source technologist and activist to headline MozFest House Zambia on November 20, 2024.

Angela is the Executive Director of Ushahidi, a global nonprofit technology company that builds tools to empower people to generate solutions and mobilize communities around the issues most relevant to them. One of their offerings is the Ushahidi open-source software application, which has evolved from a tool for crisis mapping in Kenya in 2007 to a global platform used in over 160 countries.

The Ushahidi platform has provided a way for specific crisis response in different parts of the world: from responding to the the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, to monitoring elections in Nigeria, to enabling local activist groups to track violence during the Syrian civil war.

Ushahidi empowers communities to use data responsibly to respond to and act on critical issues.
