Inspiration. Learning. Sharing. Diversity. Connection.
These are the reasons we brought the Data Values Project to the MozFest community in 2021, and that’s exactly what we found.
The Data Values Project is a global campaign to shift power in how data is designed, collected, managed, and used in development and is led by the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data. We are a global community working to tackle how governments, businesses and civil society are using data - collaborating to develop common positions and policies on data ethics, rights and governance issues: agency in data, accountability in data, and data in action.
Boosting The Data Values Project At MozFest
The Data Values Project’s workshop at MozFest on Creating a Fair Data Future brought new ideas to the campaign and deepened participants’ understanding of the trade-offs involved in designing data systems.
During the workshops, participants shared a wealth of personal experiences and knowledge about ways to ensure people are represented in and empowered by data. These ideas along with others throughout the past year fed into a white paper that we published in May for public consultation.
You can check the Data Values Project website for resources, an information library, and other work that is available to build awareness and promote this effort.
Be A Part Of The Solution: Take Action Today
The Data Values Project is intentionally a collective effort and we encourage you to get involved to contribute to creating a fair data future for all. As we move towards a global campaign, there are many ways you can engage: from attending or hosting events or authoring blogs, to facilitating internal conversations and processes to adopt the recommendations.
