What we fund

We support people, organizations, and communities at the intersection of technology and society.

Mozilla Fellowships and Awards fuel a vibrant, global community composed of current grantees, alumni, partners, and Mozilla staff. It’s a community relentlessly devoted to trustworthy AI and a healthier digital world — and it grows more powerful every day.

Alumni

While a specific Fellowship or Award may have an end date, the larger mission never does. And building movements takes time. Our alumni tirelessly pursue a world where technology serves the public interest, not special interests — and we’re always here to support them. Mozilla’s Alumni Program provides ongoing community and resources. It’s built for and with our Fellows and Awardees.

Partners

Mozilla belongs to a broader ecosystem of nonprofits and civil society organizations committed to trustworthy AI and a healthier digital world. We partner with leading advocacy and philanthropy groups on a number of our Fellowships and Awards.

Sometimes we build programs together from the ground up. Sometimes we embed Mozilla Fellows within like-minded organizations. And sometimes we cooperate on ambitious funding collaboratives. In all cases, we are running game-changing programs focused on the future of the internet.

Convening the Community

Our community comes together in-person multiple times each year to swap ideas, share code, and make our vision a reality. The Mozilla Festival (MozFest) brings together current grantees and alums (and others), unleashing the potential of collective power.

MozFest convenes labor activists in Nairobi; public interest technologists in Delhi; whistleblowers in Silicon Valley; climate activists in Brasília; policymakers in Belgium; and countless other change-makers. The result? Bold ideas, strategic alliances, diverse perspectives — and collective power able to change the status quo in tech.

Mozilla also supports and sponsors convenings led by our community.
