Mozilla is hosting a panel about Roe v. Wade's overturning in today's surveillance economy

As Americans adapt to a country where basic reproductive rights are no longer guaranteed, they must also navigate an internet where even the most personal data can become public. Everything from our internet searches, to our wearable devices, to our period apps leave a record. And that record can be sold, shared, or stolen – and in some of these cases used against us at our most vulnerable.

What digital dangers, strategies, and tools do we need to be aware of in this new environment? How can the fight for reproductive rights and the freedom of women’s bodies become a tenant in how we build digital futures – in terms of products, policy, and practice? And can these futures inspire our lived realities?

In this panel, three experts at the intersection of online privacy and rights will unpack these questions, and others.

Viewers can watch the Tuesday, July 26 panel at 11am ET on Mozilla's Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and AirMozilla.

The 60-minute panel will feature:

Mutale Nkonde

Mutale Nkonde is the founder of AI for the People, a communications firm that seeks to add a technical analysis to racial justice discourse. Jen Caltrider

Jen Caltrider leads *Privacy Not Included. During a rather unplanned stint working on her Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Jen quickly discovered she’s much better at telling stories than writing code. This epiphany led to an interesting career as a journalist covering technology at CNN. Continuing down her random life path, Jen moved from CNN to digital media activism, where she helped pioneer the creative use of digital storytelling to try and leave the world a little better than she found it. That eventually brought her to Mozilla, where she created and now leads *Privacy Not Included.Jen spends her days as a consumer privacy advocate working to help people better understand issues around privacy, security, and artificial intelligence in their consumer technology. Just exactly what she thought she’d be when she grew up (not really, life is random…and wonderful).

Amanda Bennett

Amanda Bennett is Digital Defense Fund’s project manager. Before joining the team at DDF, Amanda was the case manager at Jane’s Due Process, helping young people navigate the Texas judicial bypass process. Outside of work, she volunteers for the Bridge Collective, which provides rides to abortion appointments.

Solana Larsen

And moderator Kenrya Rankin, Mozilla. Kenrya is an award-winning author, journalist, podcast host and editorial consultant whose insight has been tapped by leading outlets, including The New York Times, The Huffington Post and ThinkProgress. She creates dynamic content that amplifies the lived experiences, advocacy and work of people of color and shifts the narrative around who deserves liberation, justice and dignity in America.
