Show, don't tell," the saying goes. Amazon's Echo Show video smart display takes that to heart. Just ask Alexa to show you that recipe you're making the lyrics to the song you're listening to, your photos, weather forecasts, the news, your security cams, even video chat with Grandma. And now you don't just get to wonder if Alexa is always listening to you, you get to wonder if she's watching you as well.

Qué podría pasar si algo falla

We're happy to see Amazon making an effort to do better when it comes to your privacy. They made it possible to automatically delete voice recording immediately after they are processed. That's a nice feature after so much controversy recently about human reviewers listening in to Alexa voice recordings. Especially since Alexa is now built into everything from your smart speakers to your kids' toys to your glasses and headphones. And while Amazon doesn't sell your personal information, they sure do use the heck out of it to target you with more stuff to buy. Remember, your new favorite Alexa ask is, "Alexa, delete everything I said today."

How to keep the smart speaker you got for the holidays and still keep some of your privacy, too
Smart speakers — Amazon’s Echo, Google’s Nest, Apple’s HomePod, and the like — are in approximately one-third of American homes, a number that’s sure to increase once all the cyber Monday deals have been shipped and Christmas presents have been unwrapped. But the people receiving (or giving) these digital personal assistants may not realize all the potential privacy pitfalls that come with them — or know what they can do to protect themselves from always-on listening and data collection devices.
