The hockey puck has become a globe. Amazon's 4th generation Alexa-powered Echo Dot smart speaker is now round and can show you the time. Alexa has become the most bossed around bot on the internet. She plays music, turns on lights, makes phone calls, tells jokes, gives the weather, reads the news, orders toilet paper, and helps you feel less alone. Alexa will always be there for you, listening, ready to do your bidding, or trying to sell you some new jeans because you asked her once how to lose weight.

Qué podría pasar si algo falla

We're happy to see Amazon making an effort to do better when it comes to your privacy. They made it possible to automatically delete voice recording immediately after they are processed. That's a nice feature after so much controversy recently about human reviewers listening in to Alexa voice recordings. Especially since Alexa is now built into everything from your smart speakers to your kids' toys to your glasses and headphones. And while Amazon doesn't sell your personal information, they sure do use the heck out of it to target you with more stuff to buy. Remember, your new favorite Alexa ask is, "Alexa, delete everything I said today."

Alexa can now immediately delete your voice recordings
Bed Fox Rubin
Amazon appears to be making good on its effort to keep tightening privacy for its Alexa-powered devices, even after the hot-button issue has cooled down this year. The most notable change is a new option to automatically delete your voice recordings immediately after they are processed by Alexa. A written transcript of these recordings will still be available for 30 days but can be deleted anytime you want.
How to keep the smart speaker you got for the holidays and still keep some of your privacy, too
Vox
Smart speakers — Amazon’s Echo, Google’s Nest, Apple’s HomePod, and the like — are in approximately one-third of American homes, a number that’s sure to increase once all the cyber Monday deals have been shipped and Christmas presents have been unwrapped. But the people receiving (or giving) these digital personal assistants may not realize all the potential privacy pitfalls that come with them — or know what they can do to protect themselves from always-on listening and data collection devices.
