What could happen if something goes wrong
According to NPR (article linked below), in 2017 We-Vibe "reached a $3.75 million class action settlement with users following allegations that the company was collecting data on when and how the sex toy was used." The company didn't admit any wrongdoing as part of the settlement. The lawsuit alleged the company had been tracking users sex lives without their knowledge through the We-Connect app. That data could then potentially be linked to the users' email. The collection of very intimate data and the potential misuse or sharing without knowledge of that data is a concern with nearly any connected sex toy. Updated statement from the company: "When app privacy and security concerns were brought to our attention in 2016, we acted swiftly to update the app. The app does not have any account registration, i.e. we do not ask for name, email, phone number or other identifying information, and users have choice for opting-in to share anonymous app data."
