SpotOn Fence
SpotOn
Bluetooth
Even fences are going virtual these days. With SpotOn's fence, you get a GPS tracking collar for your dog. Walk the perimeter of wherever you want to fence, be it a small yard of even 1,000 acres (the company claims) with the collar to create a virtual map. Once the map is created, pop the collar on your pup and teach them the boundaries. The collar will issue a couple of tones if the dog gets close to the map boundary you've created. If it starts to cross it, your pup will get a little jolt. The SpotOn fence isn't cheap, but it is portable, customizable, and you can manage it all--maps, tracking your dog, breach alerts--from your phone.
What could happen if something goes wrong?
If you're going to drop $1,500 on this product we warn it comes with *Privacy Not Included. First off, they don't link to their privacy policy on their website. That's bad for sure. We did find a privacy policy when we went to download the app. But for $1,500 they should do much better than that. And when we did find their privacy policy, we didn't find any information about how users could control the data this product collects on them. Another big flag. Lastly, we couldn't determine if they meet our Minimum Security Standards because they didn't get back to us to let us know how they manage security vulnerabilities or updates. What's the worst that could happen? You spend your hard earned $1,500 on a product that maps out the places around your home and the company cares so little about protecting that data it ends up hacked and sold to the highest bidder on the dark web. Maybe not super likely, but still pretty scary.
