Backpack was Mozilla’s tool for storing Open Badges — digital credentials that represent users’ skills and achievements. Backpack allowed users to share and display their badges on any platform across the web.
In 2016, it was announced that stewardship of the Open Badges work would pass from Mozilla to IMS Global Learning Consortium. In 2018, it was announced that Backpack would be retired, and users and their Open Badges would be migrated to Concentric Sky’s free and open Badgr platform.
